A 2025 Step-by-Step Guide to Trading on Binance Futures as a Beginner

You can now copy trade on Binance Futures. Follow the steps below to become a lead trader and let other users copy your trades. For more details, please refer to the What Is Copy Trading? page.

How to become a lead trader on Binance Futures?

1. Log in to your Binance account and go to [Futures] - [Copy Trading].

2. Click [Apply Now] on the top right corner.

3. Customize your lead trader portfolio:

  • Nickname: Enter a name for your portfolio to be displayed in the Portfolio Center.

  • Portfolio Introduction: Add introduction for your portfolio. It will be displayed on the portfolio details page.

  • Portfolio Type: Select either [Public] or [Private] portfolio.

    • Public Portfolio: Can be copied by any user.

    • Private Portfolio: Copy access is limited by invite code or link.

  • Amount: Enter a lead trading amount (minimum 500 USDT). Once the portfolio is created, the funds will be automatically transferred from your Spot Account to your Lead Trading Account.

  • Profit Sharing (only available for Private Portfolios): Set your preferred profit sharing ratio. Please note that it cannot be changed once the portfolio is created.

  • 3.1 Please read and agree to the service agreement, then click [Confirm] to create your portfolio.

    4. Your portfolio has been created. Click [Trade Now] to go to the trading interface.

    Please note: Lead traders can open lead trades from the lead trading page or Futures trading page directly. 

  • Lead Trading page: Trading tools are similar to those on the Futures trading interface. For more details, please refer to How to Customize the Binance Futures Trading Interface?

  • Futures Trading page: Lead traders can easily switch between lead trades and personal trades on the Futures trading page. Tabs for [Public] and [Private] portfolios will appear if these portfolios are opened.

    How to manage your portfolio?

    1. You can view your copy traders’ portfolio details and performance by clicking [My Lead].

  • Click [Adjust Balance]:

    • To add or withdraw funds.

    Please note: The maximum transferable amount is the available balance of the portfolio amount minus 500 USDT.

  • To transfer BNB to the portfolio and enjoy the BNB trading fee payment discount.

  • You can click [Close] to close the portfolio. Your followers’ portfolios will automatically stop copying trades and proceed to settle profits.

  • Please note: You can’t close the portfolio if it still has open positions.

    2. You can also view your copy traders’ portfolio details and performance in [Assets] - [Copy Trading].

    3. Lead traders can click [Remove] to stop a copier from following their trades.

    Please note: A lead trader will not be able to remove a copier when there are any ongoing positions.

    4. The default copy limit for each portfolio is 200 slots. If a public portfolio has been fully copied, another 200 slots will be unlocked automatically. For more slots to increase, please apply via this survey.

    Click the icon next to the “Copiers” slots to adjust the max copy slots. Private portfolios can be adjusted up to 1,000 slots.

    5. The default minimum copy amount is 10 USDT, the edit function will be automatically unlocked when the public portfolio has been fully copied with 200 copiers. A public lead trader can edit the maximum amount to 200 USDT. Private portfolios can be adjusted up to 50,000 USDT.

    6. Lock-up period: The feature will be automatically unlocked after the portfolio has been fully copied with 200 copiers. You can click the edit button to set your lock-up period to 7D, 14D and 30D.

    How does risk management work for lead portfolios?

    1. Portfolio Risk Management for Public Portfolios: 

    • Leverage Limitation: When a portfolio’s AUM (Assets Under Management) of its active copy traders is ≥ 400,000 USDT, the lead trading leverage will be limited to a maximum of 10x. The system will make the check once each day at 02:00 (UTC).

    • Advanced Portfolio Protection: Imitating the nickname, portfolio description and trading strategy of portfolios with ≥ 200 copy traders and their associated portfolios is not allowed. Portfolios identified as imitating nickname, project description, or trading strategy will be hidden.
