Cloudflare, the web infrastructure giant powering nearly 20% of the world’s websites, has announced the upcoming launch of its own stablecoin, NET Dollar (NET$). Pegged to the US dollar, NET Dollar is designed to become the default currency for artificial intelligence agents, enabling programmable commerce across the web.

A Stablecoin Built for the Internet of AI Agents
Unlike traditional stablecoins, NET Dollar isn’t just meant for global payments. It’s engineered to integrate seamlessly with AI-driven economic activity. Cloudflare says NET Dollar will allow agents to autonomously execute programmable transactions, such as purchasing airline tickets at the lowest price or securing concert seats the moment they become available.
The company highlights three core benefits:
Instant, low-cost global transactions
Programmable commerce for AI agents
Fair compensation for creators of digital content
According to Cloudflare, NET Dollar aims to establish the foundation for a more sustainable and equitable AI economy, ensuring that creators are properly rewarded when AI systems use their content.
Cloudflare Joins Industry Push Toward AI Commerce Standards
Cloudflare isn’t alone in this mission. Google has already introduced its AP2 protocol, designed to let AI agents perform commercial actions on behalf of users. Cloudflare is also actively involved in building x402, a global interoperability standard for AI-driven commerce.
While no launch date has been announced, Cloudflare confirmed that NET Dollar will be fully interoperable, meaning it could become a global conduit for online trade. Analysts argue this is a natural step for Cloudflare, whose infrastructure already anchors much of the modern internet. With its strong reputation in cybersecurity, Cloudflare may also have a trust advantage in driving mainstream adoption of its stablecoin.
