SoundHound AI shares dropped 9.5% during trading, closing at $14.23 despite posting strong third-quarter results.

The company reported robust revenue growth and expanded its reach across diverse sectors. However, a large GAAP net loss and stock-linked accounting impacts weighed heavily on market sentiment.

Revenue Jumps 68% as Enterprise AI Demand Rises

SoundHound AI recorded $42 million in Q3 revenue, up 68% from the same period last year. Growth came from adoption across industries including automotive, healthcare, finance, and retail. The company continues to roll out voice-enabled AI products at scale.

The non-GAAP gross margin stood at 59.3%, nearly flat compared to 59.7% last year.  GAAP gross margin declined to 42.6%, impacted by non-cash acquisition-related liabilities. The company’s adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed slightly to $14.5 million, showing some operational improvement.

SoundHound cited rising enterprise AI use and large-scale deployments as key revenue drivers. Major clients renewed contracts or expanded existing services across several verticals. The company highlighted strong momentum in automotive, finance, and consumer-facing sectors.

Stock Price Hit by GAAP Net Loss and Acquisition Liability Impact

SoundHound AI reported a GAAP net loss of $109.3 million, up sharply from $21.8 million last year. A significant portion of this was due to $66 million in acquisition-related liabilities revalued against its rising stock price. These liabilities are non-cash and tied to future earnout shares.

The GAAP loss per share came in at $0.27, compared to $0.06 in Q3 2024. In contrast, the non-GAAP loss per share was only $0.03, improving slightly year-over-year. Yet, the sharp increase in GAAP losses appears to have triggered the market decline.

Despite these losses, the company maintains a healthy balance sheet with $269 million in cash and no debt. Management emphasized the strength of its financial position to support continued expansion. However, the market reacted strongly to the large accounting loss, pulling the stock down significantly.

Business Expands Across Key Industries and Global Markets

SoundHound continued to grow its AI product suite, including new features for Amelia 7.3 and Vision AI integration. The firm closed deals with clients in healthcare, insurance, and energy, enhancing its enterprise AI footprint. Its solutions now span IoT devices, automotive systems, and conversational agents in retail environments.

The company secured major voice AI deals with carmakers, fast-casual restaurants, and global consumer brands. Strategic partnerships with distributors and IT service providers also expanded distribution channels. These moves demonstrate SoundHound’s ambition to lead the voice-driven AI segment globally.

Recent acquisitions and industry recognitions further boosted its technology credentials. The firm acquired Interactions to strengthen its customer service capabilities and gained recognition from IDC and Everest Group. These milestones reinforce its commitment to dominating agentic AI in enterprise environments.
