What is tokenbot (CLANKER)?

Introduction

tokenbot (CLANKER) is a tool that lets anyone create and manage tokens directly within Farcaster, a decentralized social network that runs on Base.

In this article, we’ll explore what tokenbot is, meet the team behind it, explain how it leverages Farcaster for on-chain actions, dive into CLANKER’s tokenomics and recent price performance and wrap up with key takeaways and cautionary points for prospective users.

Key Takeaways:

  • tokenbot runs on Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2, making token creation fast and inexpensive.

  • Users deploy tokens via Farcaster commands and earn creator rewards, all powered by CLANKER.

  • Bybit recently listed the CLANKERUSDT Perpetual futures contract with up to 20x leverage in the Innovation Zone.

What is tokenbot (CLANKER)?

tokenbot (CLANKER) is a protocol that lets users launch custom tokens simply by tagging the tokenbot agent in a post (also known as a “cast”) on Farcaster, a decentralized social network built on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2.

Rather than manually deploying a token or dealing with multiple third-party tools, creators can use the tokenbot protocol to mint a new token, specify supply parameters and let the autonomous AI agent handle the rest on-chain.

Founders of tokenbot

The core team behind tokenbot includes blockchain engineers and developers from Coinbase and Twitter (now X), including alex (proxystudio.eth), Jack Dishman, Bryce Tayengco, Lily Johnson, Carter Appleton and Michael (m00npapi.eth).

What is Farcaster?

Farcaster is a decentralized permissionless social network protocol built on Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase. It offers a lightweight framework for apps to read (and users to post) “casts” (messages) while using Ethereum wallets for identity.

tokenbot leverages Farcaster’s messaging layer to transform social commands into on-chain token deployments. It uses an autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agent to introduce tokenization to Farcaster, the decentralized social network.

How tokenbot works

Deploying a token

To deploy a token, post a cast on Farcaster and tag @clanker. Include the token name, ticker and an optional picture in the post.

Newly deployed tokens will be paired with WETH in the Uniswap v3 liquidity pool by default. However, you can request another supported quote token in the cast.

An example of a cast would be: @clanker deploy a token named TestToken with the ticker TEST paired with CLANKER

Alternatively, you may use the clanker.world platform or the Farcaster mini app to deploy a token.

If successful, tokenbot will reply to the cast with a link to the token page. If the token deployment fails, the bot will reply to your cast with the reason or clarify further.

Token deployment and tokenomics

  • tokenbot will deploy a new ERC-20 token on Base, with a fixed total supply of 100 billion.

  • You can request for up to 30% of the supply to be sent to a creator vault, which will lock the token up for a minimum of 30 days.

  • A new Uniswap v3 pool on Base will automatically be set up, with WETH as the quote token by default.

  • The starting market cap is 10 WETH by default.

Creator rewards and trading

  • The liquidity pool will accrue 1% of the fee per swap from the trading of the newly created token in the Uniswap v3 pool.

  • Token creators will earn 40% of initial LP fees (0.4% of trading fees) for tokens created via the Clanker bot on Farcaster or clanker.world.

  • There will be no creator rewards subsequent to the creation of new trading pools.

CLANKER tokenomics and price performance

  • Total and circulating supply: 1 million

  • Utility: CLANKER can be used to create and mint new tokens, and to cover gas fees within the tokenbot ecosystem.

As of Apr 28, CLANKER is trading at approximately $38.09, down 2.8% over the past week. It has a 24-hour volume of around $7 million and a market cap of $38 million.

Where to buy CLANKER

tokenbot (CLANKER) simplifies token creation by marrying Farcaster’s social commands with Base’s efficient Layer 2 execution. Its accessible workflow, community rewards and governance model put token issuance in the creators’ hands.

However, the novelty of social-first token creation carries risks — new tokens can be illiquid, vulnerable to smart contract bugs or driven by hype. Always do your own research before minting or trading CLANKER, and consider security and market factors before diving in.

Bybit just announced the listing of the CLANKERUSDT Perpetual contract, giving Bybit traders up to 20x leverage to long or short CLANKER. Simply head to the CLANKERUSDT trading page to start trading now!
