What Crypto to Buy Now Beyond Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH)

Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to dominate headlines, but the market narrative has started to shift. With BTC and ETH trading at elevated levels after years of growth, more investors are looking beyond the obvious names.

While Bitcoin and Ethereum remain foundational assets in crypto portfolios, newer projects at earlier stages are drawing attention for a different reason—price positioning. Mutuum Finance is one of those projects. Now in presale phase 7 at $0.04, it remains below its $0.06 launch price.

Bitcoin and Ethereum: Market Leaders With Limited Upside

Why BTC and ETH Still Matter

Bitcoin and Ethereum are widely viewed as the backbone of the crypto market. Bitcoin’s role as digital gold and Ethereum’s position as the leading smart contract platform have earned them massive adoption, institutional interest, and deep liquidity. Their market capitalizations reflect that maturity.

However, size comes with trade-offs. Bitcoin’s market cap is already measured in the hundreds of billions, which means even modest percentage gains require enormous inflows of capital. A 5x move for Bitcoin, for example, would require trillions of dollars entering the market—something that is possible over long time horizons, but far from common in short or medium cycles.

Ethereum faces a similar dynamic. While ETH continues to evolve and benefit from DeFi, staking, and institutional exposure, the scale it has reached makes explosive upside increasingly difficult compared to earlier cycles.

Current Market Conditions

Both BTC and ETH have shown strength recently, but they remain exposed to broader macro uncertainty, regulatory developments, and periods of volatility. Pullbacks are still possible, and while long-term conviction remains strong, the probability of outsized gains from current levels is naturally lower than it was years ago.

A New Crypto Still Priced Below $0.06

Mutuum Finance is still in its presale phase 7, with the token priced at $0.04, below its $0.06 launch price. That gap alone represents a 50% increase by the time the token reaches the open market. More importantly, the presale began at $0.01, meaning early participants have already seen substantial appreciation through the structured phase progression.

For example, someone who allocated $2,000 in the first phase at $0.01 would now be holding a position valued around $8,000 at the current phase 7 price, and $12,000 at the $0.06 launch price—before any post-launch market movement is considered.

The project has raised over $19.45 million and already counts more than 18,600 holders. Reaching this level of participation at the presale stage is significant, as it reflects a broad base of early supporters who are positioned to benefit as the project continues to develop and the token progresses toward public trading.

What Mutuum Finance Is Building

Lending and Borrowing at the Core

Mutuum Finance is developing a decentralized lending and borrowing protocol designed to operate without custodians or intermediaries. The platform will offer two distinct lending models: peer-to-contract (P2C) and peer-to-peer (P2P).

In the P2C model, users interact with liquidity pools. Lenders supply assets and earn yield, while borrowers can access capital by providing collateral. Loan-to-value (LTV) ratios determine how much can be borrowed, helping manage risk while allowing capital efficiency.

The P2P model introduces more flexibility. Users can directly negotiate lending terms with each other, including interest rates and duration. This structure opens the door to assets that are typically excluded from standard lending pools, including meme coins such as DOGE or PEPE, allowing for more customized strategies.

How MUTM Is Tied to Platform Activity

Mutuum Finance introduces mtTokens, which represent supplied assets within the protocol. These tokens accrue value as interest is earned, providing a transparent way to track yield. The MUTM token itself is closely tied to platform utility rather than serving as a passive asset.

A portion of protocol activity is designed to feed into a buy-and-distribute mechanism, where value generated by the platform is used to support token holders. This creates a direct link between protocol usage and token demand, reinforcing MUTM’s role beyond speculation.

Future roadmap phases expand on this structure, with additional features planned to enhance capital efficiency, asset support, and user incentives as the platform matures.

The team is currently preparing the V1 protocol launch on the Sepolia testnet, scheduled for Q4 2025. Core components include liquidity pools, mtTokens, debt tokens, and an automated liquidator bot, with ETH and USDT serving as the initial supported assets for lending, borrowing, and collateral.

Security has been a clear priority. A CertiK audit has already been completed, and the team recently confirmed that the Halborn audit is now fully completed as well. With audits finalized, the announcement of the exact V1 launch date is expected soon, marking a key step toward hands-on user testing.

Why Investors Are Looking Beyond BTC and ETH

Bitcoin and Ethereum are unlikely to disappear from serious portfolios, but their scale makes dramatic returns increasingly difficult. In contrast, Mutuum Finance is still at a stage where pricing, utility, and visibility are aligning simultaneously.

With the token priced at $0.04, a platform launching alongside the token, and exchange listings anticipated following launch, some investors see the current phase as an opportunity where multiples are still possible. From current levels, scenarios involving 5x to 10x returns are being discussed precisely because the project has not yet entered its public market phase.

Launching the token at the same time as the platform strengthens Mutuum Finance’s positioning for top-tier exchange listings. Projects that arrive with a working product, completed audits, and an active user base tend to gain traction faster once listed, as accessibility and liquidity expand.

Bitcoin and Ethereum remain pillars of the crypto market, but their size limits the kind of upside many investors are now seeking. Mutuum Finance represents a project still in its early pricing window, with a clear roadmap, active development, and a platform set to launch alongside its token.
