Chainlink Deploys First Native Real-Time Oracle on MegaETH

Markets 2025-10-17 18:40

In a landmark move for decentralized finance, oracle network giant Chainlink has announced the deployment of the first native real-time on-chain oracle on MegaETH, a high-performance Ethereum Layer-2. The integration, revealed on the 16th, will provide the blockchain with high-fidelity market data at sub-second latency, directly within its execution environment.

According to MegaETH’s official announcement, Chainlink Data Streams will be deployed natively via a native precompile, making this the first integration of its kind. This allows any smart contract on the network to access real-time, high-frequency market data on-chain seamlessly, without custom integrations.

Revolutionizing DeFi Performance with Real-Time Data

This partnership aims to establish a new foundation for real-time DeFi. It will enable applications like perpetual futures, prediction markets, and stablecoins to achieve the responsiveness and precision of centralized exchanges, while maintaining a fully on-chain architecture.

MegaETH, which bills itself as the first real-time blockchain secured by Ethereum, is designed for this task. It features an ultra-optimized execution environment with 10-millisecond block times and a capacity of up to 100,000 TPS. This web2-level performance provides the necessary foundation for real-time oracles to operate effectively. Chainlink brings its battle-tested oracle infrastructure, which already secures vast amounts of transactional value across the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Solving Latency and MEV with a New Oracle Model

The integration introduces a novel oracle model that merges the security of traditional on-chain oracles with the immediacy of streaming data. This directly addresses the critical latency issues that have prevented DeFi from matching the performance of its centralized counterparts.

MegaETH’s announcement states that Chainlink’s data streams will update in real-time the moment a contract accesses them. This eliminates the latency mismatches and redundant updates common in older oracle solutions. Furthermore, smart contracts can read live market data directly without any additional off-chain logic, resulting in zero integration overhead.

This breakthrough is expected to help mitigate long-standing DeFi issues like front-running and Miner/Maximal Extractable Value (MEV).

Ray Yang, CTO of MegaETH, stated, “Builders get on-chain access to low-latency, efficient market data. Chainlink’s data standards are essential for building the next generation of real-time DeFi applications.”

Chainlink is currently expanding its diverse data catalog to include equities, commodities, and Real World Assets (RWAs), an effort poised to bring transformative change to the entire DeFi landscape.
