Elon Musk Confirms Holding Dogecoin, But Does Not Control It

News Flash 2025-11-13 19:46

Elon Musk has confirmed that he holds Dogecoin (DOGE) along with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), but he does not own or control the Dogecoin network. Created in 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, Dogecoin started as a joke project. Despite Musk's influence on DOGE's price through his public comments and social media activity, he has clarified that his statements are not investment advice. Musk's influence on Dogecoin's market value has been notable, with significant price movements following his actions. In May 2021, DOGE surged ahead of Musk's appearance on Saturday Night Live, and in 2023, a temporary change of the Twitter logo to the Shiba Inu dog led to another price spike. However, Musk's exact holdings in DOGE remain undisclosed.
