The final Bitcoin is anticipated to be mined around the year 2140, with 95% of the total 21 million Bitcoin supply already in circulation as of 2025. Currently, over 19.95 million BTC have been mined, leaving approximately 1.8 million BTC to be released gradually. The Bitcoin network's halving mechanism, which reduces the block reward approximately every four years, has decreased the reward from its initial 50 BTC to 3.125 BTC. This halving process will continue to slow the issuance of new Bitcoin, ensuring that the remaining supply is released at a diminishing rate. Once the last Bitcoin is mined, miners will depend on transaction fees for revenue. Despite this shift, the network is expected to remain operational, provided that transaction fees continue to offer adequate incentives for miners.
