SBI Holdings and Startale Group to Launch Regulated Yen Stablecoin

SBI Holdings and Startale Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a regulated yen stablecoin aimed at global settlements and institutional applications. The stablecoin will be issued and redeemed by Shinsei Trust & Banking, while SBI VC Trade, a licensed crypto exchange, will manage its circulation. Startale will handle blockchain technology, smart contract, and security development. The project will operate under the Financial Services Agency's new stablecoin regulatory framework and sandbox mechanism, with a target launch in Q2 2026.
