Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund Backs Metaplanet's Bitcoin Strategy

The Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), has voted in favor of Metaplanet's Bitcoin treasury strategy ahead of the company's Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on December 22. NBIM, which holds approximately 0.3% of Metaplanet's shares, supports all five proposals put forward by the management. These proposals include the introduction of perpetual preferred shares (MARS, MERCURY) and the expansion of authorized capital to enhance capital flexibility, enabling non-dilutive Bitcoin accumulation. The MERCURY preferred shares are specifically aimed at institutional investors, with a fundraising target of approximately $150 million to purchase Bitcoin.
