Hong Kong Drafts Regulations for Insurance Funds to Invest in Crypto

The Hong Kong Insurance Authority has drafted new regulations to guide insurance funds in investing in cryptocurrency assets and local infrastructure projects. The proposed regulations include a 100% risk weight on crypto assets and a risk weight on stablecoins based on their fiat currency peg. The draft will be open for public comment from February to April 2026 before being submitted to the legislative process.
