This initiative comes in response to FBI reports indicating $246.7 million in losses from crypto ATM scams in 2024, with Minnesota experiencing a significant increase. The survey follows a December 19 alert and a lawsuit in Washington D.C. against Athena Bitcoin, a company reportedly responsible for handling 93% of scam-related deposits. The Attorney General's office hopes the survey will provide insights to better protect consumers from fraudulent activities associated with crypto ATMs.
