Venezuela reportedly holds 240 BTC, valued at approximately $22.33 million, according to Bitcoin Treasuries data. Despite a previous ban on Bitcoin mining due to energy concerns, the country has been involved in Bitcoin transactions since 2022. Opposition leader María Corina Machado has suggested incorporating Bitcoin into national reserves, while the government-backed digital currency "Petro" ceased circulation in 2024. Analysts estimate that Venezuela has accumulated over 600,000 BTC, worth between $56 and $67 billion, through asset conversions since 2018. This includes using $2 billion in gold to purchase around 400,000 BTC at an average price of $5,000. These holdings are comparable to those of major corporations like MicroStrategy and BlackRock. Potential U.S. judicial actions could impact these assets, leading to supply lock-up and market volatility.
