The new venture will offer services such as custody, financing, and market access, and is currently in the early stages of development. This strategic move aims to navigate Basel III's stringent capital requirements for permissionless crypto assets. The bank has a history of involvement in the crypto space, with previous projects including Zodia Custody and Zodia Markets. Standard Chartered aims to become the first global systemically important bank to offer spot crypto trading by 2025, marking a significant expansion of its digital asset portfolio.
