Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced that stake pool operators (SPOs) and delegators on the Cardano network will earn both ADA and the new NIGHT token as staking rewards. This development coincides with the upcoming launch of the privacy-focused sidechain, Midnight, on the Cardano mainnet. Hoskinson explained that SPOs who opt into this system will receive block rewards for their role in sustaining block production on both the Cardano and Midnight networks. The integration of Midnight is expected to enhance Cardano's treasury by increasing transaction fees as staking and trading activities grow on the sidechain. This will allow the Cardano treasury to become a multi-asset entity, receiving fees in native tokens from partner chains. Hoskinson also hinted at potential future integrations, such as Bitcoin DeFi and stablecoin deployments, which could further diversify the treasury's assets.
