Sei Labs Targets Mid-Year Completion for SIP-3 Upgrade, Paving Way for Sei Giga

Sei Labs co-founder Jay announced that the SIP-3 upgrade of the Sei network is expected to be completed by mid-2026, marking a significant milestone towards the Sei Giga upgrade. The SIP-3 upgrade aims to streamline Sei's architecture by eliminating its dual EVM and Cosmos structure, transforming it into a pure EVM chain. This process involves the removal of hundreds of thousands of lines of code, after which only EVM addresses will be able to initiate transactions. Following the completion of SIP-3, Sei Labs plans to focus on the Sei Giga upgrade. Jay indicated that the team is working diligently and a major announcement regarding Sei Giga is anticipated soon, highlighting the ongoing development efforts at Sei Labs.
