In a conversation with P2P Foundation founder Michel Bauwens, Buterin noted the significant resistance from users' established habits, such as the entrenched mindset around ERC-20 tokens, which hampers the adoption of experimental assets like Harberger tax NFTs. Buterin suggested that on-chain Roscas (rotating savings and credit associations) might find greater success in regions like Thailand or the "Global South," where such financial structures are already familiar. He stressed that the industry should not merely introduce so-called "new inventions" but should instead understand the operational realities of different regions and design structures that align with existing user perceptions.
