U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Andy Kim have urged the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to investigate a $500 million investment by UAE-based G42 in World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency firm linked to the Trump family. In a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the senators expressed concerns over national security, highlighting the potential for foreign access to sensitive U.S. citizen data. G42, backed by UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoon, acquired a 49% stake in the firm, which issues the stablecoin USD1 and is managed by Trump family members.
