Alchemy has introduced an autonomous payment system for AI agents on the Base network, facilitating automatic purchases of compute credits using USDC. This system allows AI agents to access blockchain data services, including querying on-chain data and real-time token prices, without human intervention. Leveraging Coinbase's x402 payment standard, the system transforms HTTP 402 responses into automated payment triggers, enabling seamless machine-to-machine transactions. Agent accounts can be funded with as little as $1 in USDC, with automatic credit replenishment when needed. Alchemy CEO Nikil Viswanathan highlighted the system's utility for developers of on-chain applications like DeFi agents and portfolio management bots. Major platforms such as Robinhood Crypto, Uniswap, and Aave already utilize Alchemy's infrastructure, now accessible to AI agents autonomously.
