Strike, a payments company led by Jack Mallers, has obtained a virtual currency license and a money transmitter license from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). This approval allows Strike to offer its Bitcoin services to New York residents and businesses, including Bitcoin brokerage, recurring buys, and paycheck-to-Bitcoin conversions. The licenses, granted in February, enable Zap Solutions, Inc., operating as Strike, to function under New York's digital asset regulatory framework. With the new licenses, New York users can now buy and sell Bitcoin, set up recurring purchases, and convert direct-deposited paychecks into Bitcoin through Strike. The platform also supports bill payments from Bitcoin balances and fund withdrawals to self-custody wallets. Jack Mallers, Strike's founder and CEO, described the BitLicense as a significant milestone, facilitating the expansion of Bitcoin-based financial services in a major financial market. The NYDFS's stringent licensing framework is often seen as a benchmark for crypto firms seeking regulated market access in the US.
