A U.S. federal court in the Southern District of New York has approved class certification for plaintiffs in the market manipulation lawsuit against Tether and Bitfinex. The case, which accuses the defendants of manipulating cryptocurrency market prices through the issuance of USDT between 2017 and 2019, will proceed as a class action. The court's decision divides the plaintiffs into two groups: spot investors and futures traders. While the ruling does not address the merits of the case, it allows the lawsuit to advance collectively.
