The CFTC is seeking to establish itself as the primary regulator of prediction markets, amidst state-level disputes over whether these markets fall under gambling regulations. Recently, Arizona's Attorney General filed charges against Kalshi, accusing it of operating an illegal gambling platform, a move criticized by Kalshi's CEO and the CFTC Chair as an overreach.
