TON Foundation Activates Catchain 2.0 Upgrade, Boosting Block Speed

The TON Foundation has successfully activated the Catchain 2.0 upgrade as of April 9 at 15:00 UTC+8, following a favorable vote. This upgrade enhances the block generation speed by approximately six times, offering nearly instantaneous transaction experiences. Despite the unchanged block rewards of 1.7 TON for the main chain and 1.0 TON for the base chain, the increased block production rate is expected to significantly boost validators' earnings per cycle. Consequently, TON's annual inflation rate is projected to rise from about 0.6% to approximately 3.6%. The network will continue its mechanism of burning 50% of transaction fees.
