Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, has issued a warning about a surge in deepfake scams targeting XRP users. These scams involve fake social media profiles impersonating Ripple executives, such as Brad Garlinghouse, to promote fraudulent XRP giveaways. Victims are often lured into sending XRP with the promise of receiving a larger return, a common tactic in crypto fraud. Ripple has reiterated that it never asks users to send XRP or participate in giveaways requiring upfront payments. The company also clarified that it does not operate any official Telegram support channels. As crypto adoption grows, these scams are becoming more sophisticated, using deepfake videos and mimicking branding elements to deceive both new and experienced users. Ripple urges users to verify communications through official channels to avoid falling victim to these schemes.
