ClearBank Europe has become the first Dutch bank authorized to offer stablecoin services under the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation. The bank, managing over $13 billion in assets, received approval from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) to operate as a crypto asset service provider (CASP). This allows ClearBank to offer euro- and U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins without needing a new license. The bank plans to integrate traditional clearing systems with blockchain networks, enhancing settlement times and cross-border transfers. ClearBank will connect to Circle Internet's Mint platform, providing institutional clients access to EURC and USDC stablecoins. This initiative is part of ClearBank's broader strategy to link banking infrastructure with digital asset markets, including collaborations in the U.K. with Coinbase.
