OpenAI has announced the resignation of two key executives, Bill Peebles and Kevin Weil, effective April 18. Bill Peebles, instrumental in developing the video generation model Sora, leaves after overseeing its growth from a small team to the launch of Sora 2. Kevin Weil, who joined OpenAI as Chief Product Officer and later founded the OpenAI for Science division, is also stepping down. Following Weil's departure, OpenAI will dissolve the OpenAI for Science division, integrating its functions into other research teams. In his farewell message, Weil emphasized the importance of accelerating scientific progress as a crucial step towards achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI).
