Google has expanded its Gemini feature in Chrome to seven new Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. This expansion, effective April 21, follows previous rollouts in the United States, India, Canada, and New Zealand. Gemini in Chrome, which appears as a sidebar, offers functionalities such as answering questions across multiple tabs and integrating with Gmail, Google Photos, Calendar, and Maps for personalized responses. However, the expansion does not include the agentic capabilities of Gemini, which remain exclusive to U.S.-based AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. These capabilities, still in testing, allow the feature to autonomously operate the browser and perform multi-step tasks. Users in the newly added markets will have access to the Q&A and account assistant features but not the autonomous functionalities.
