The Solana Foundation has announced its long-term research into potential quantum computing threats and has developed a post-quantum migration plan. Both Anza and Jump Crypto have independently selected the Falcon post-quantum digital signature scheme, completing its initial implementation. Falcon is noted for its short signature length, making it suitable for high-throughput blockchains. Solana stated that no protocol changes are currently necessary, but should quantum computing breakthroughs occur, upgrades can be executed as planned.
