AIMCo Gains $69 Million on MicroStrategy Investment

Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) has reported a significant unrealized gain of approximately $69 million from its investment in MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares. The Canadian asset management firm purchased around 1.38 million shares in the first quarter for about $172 million, with an average cost of $125 per share. With the current share price at approximately $175, the market value of AIMCo's position has increased to about $241 million. AIMCo had previously held and sold shares of MicroStrategy between 2019 and 2020, prior to the company's adoption of a Bitcoin reserve strategy.
