QuantWare has successfully closed a $178 million Series B funding round, marking a significant milestone in the quantum processor industry. Led by Intel Capital and IQT, the funding will support the construction of the world's largest dedicated quantum chip factory. QuantWare aims to scale its quantum processors to ten times the capacity of current commercial products, with a long-term vision of achieving a 100-fold expansion. Founded in 2021, QuantWare has quickly become a leading supplier of quantum processing units (QPUs), shipping products to over 50 customers in more than 20 countries. Unlike major players like IBM and Google, QuantWare operates as a neutral supplier, offering its VIO platform with a modular chiplet architecture to enhance scalability for third-party companies. The company plans to address quantum computing's scaling challenges by significantly increasing production capacity and overcoming bottlenecks in packaging, wiring, and manufacturing.
