U.S. prosecutors are recommending a lenient sentence for Roni Cohen-Pavon, former chief revenue officer of Celsius Network, due to his cooperation in fraud and price-manipulation cases involving the CEL token. Cohen-Pavon, who pleaded guilty in September 2023, has provided significant assistance, including readiness to testify against Celsius founder Alex Mashinsky. The government has not specified a custodial term but suggests applying sentencing guidelines for substantial assistance. Cohen-Pavon's cooperation reportedly influenced Mashinsky's decision to plead guilty before his January 2025 trial. Mashinsky was sentenced to 12 years in prison in May 2025 for commodities and securities fraud. Cohen-Pavon's sentencing, initially set for May 7, has been rescheduled to May 13. His lawyers have requested time served, emphasizing his acceptance of responsibility for his role in the CEL token scheme.
