Fusaka's PeerDAS Aims to Revolutionize Blockchain Data Handling

News Flash 2025-09-25 06:46

Fusaka is pioneering a novel approach to blockchain data management with its core feature, PeerDAS, which allows a live blockchain to operate without requiring any single node to download the full data. PeerDAS enables nodes to request a small number of data "chunks" to probabilistically verify that more than 50% of chunks are available. This method allows nodes to download available chunks and use erasure coding to reconstruct the rest. In its initial version, PeerDAS requires full data of a block to exist in one place for initial broadcasting and reconstruction if a publisher releases between 50% and 100% of a block. These roles are untrusted, needing only one honest actor to function effectively, even among many dishonest ones. Future developments aim to distribute these functions further, enhancing scalability. The cautious approach to testing and conservative increase in blob count reflects the developers' commitment to safety and scalability, crucial for L2 and eventually L1 scaling.
