LayerZero has clarified that a recent attack did not compromise the LayerZero Protocol itself but targeted the internal RPC used by LayerZero Labs DVN. The attack, attributed to the Lazarus Group, also involved a DDOS on external RPC providers, affecting approximately 0.14% of applications and 0.36% of cross-chain asset value. LayerZero acknowledged the design flaw in allowing a 1/1 DVN configuration for high-value transactions and announced plans to enhance security monitoring for developer configurations. The company stated that LayerZero Labs DVN will no longer support the 1/1 DVN setup and is transitioning to a default configuration of 5/5 or at least 3/3.
