Bitcoin's oldest holders, those who have held coins for over a decade, are moving their assets at unprecedented rates as the cryptocurrency's price falls from $82,000 to $75,400. Data indicates that these long-term holders have reached the 97th percentile in spending activity over the past ten years, moving 51,350 BTC in 30 days while maintaining near-record high balances. Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck, attributes this activity to quantum migration, as concerns grow over the security of older wallet formats against future quantum computing threats. Approximately 6.9 million BTC remain vulnerable due to exposed public keys. Meanwhile, Bitcoin holders from the 1-to-3-year cohort have also shown significant activity, moving 848,895 BTC, the highest among all groups.
