Dormant Satoshi-Era Bitcoin Wallet Moves 20 BTC After 15.8 Years

News Flash 2026-06-01 06:22

A Bitcoin wallet from the Satoshi era, inactive since August 2010, transferred 20 BTC on May 31, 2026, marking the end of 15.8 years of dormancy. The transaction, valued at approximately $1.47 million, was identified in block 951828 by Galaxy Research. At the time of the transfer, Bitcoin was trading at around $73,608. The wallet, which last received coins nearly 16 years ago, is not believed to be associated with Satoshi Nakamoto, according to Galaxy's Alex Thorn. The movement of these coins is part of a broader trend of early Bitcoin holders redistributing their assets, although such transfers typically have minimal impact on the market, which sees about $16.3 billion in daily spot volume.
