Vitalik Buterin Highlights ZK Technology's Role in Future Applications

News Flash 2025-10-10 17:04

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin emphasized the potential of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology during a fireside chat at the Global On-chain Asset Summit in Singapore. Buterin noted that while 90% of new applications may fail, the successful 10% will shape the future. He highlighted ZKID as a key area of focus, addressing the critical yet underestimated issues of identity and privacy. ZK technology allows for the verification of essential facts without exposing full private information. Buterin illustrated the application of ZK technology in under-collateralized loans, where the main challenge is assessing a borrower's repayment ability. By integrating ZK with AI, a credible "proof of solvency" can be generated, enabling global access to credit. He views this as a prime example of combining financial and non-financial applications, predicting that future applications will increasingly offer both financial value and social collaboration benefits.
