Ethereum Processes Record 200.4 Million Transactions in Q1 2026

News Flash 2026-04-17 15:37

Ethereum has achieved a new milestone by processing 200.4 million transactions in Q1 2026, marking its busiest quarter ever. This represents a 43% increase from the 145 million transactions recorded in Q4 2025, according to Artemis data. Despite this surge in activity, Ethereum's native token, ether, remains down over 50% from its August 2025 high, trading around $2,328. The increase in transactions is largely driven by activity on Layer 2 networks, which offer cheaper transaction processing and then settle on Ethereum's main chain. Additionally, the total supply of stablecoins on Ethereum has reached a record $180 billion, accounting for 60% of the global stablecoin market. However, analysts caution that the Dencun upgrade has reduced data costs for L2s, potentially impacting Ethereum's fee revenue and value per transaction.
