David Schwartz, former CTO of Ripple, has reassured XRP Ledger (XRPL) users that the network is safeguarded against vulnerabilities similar to those exploited in the recent Kelp DAO incident. Schwartz highlighted that the security of cross-chain bridge systems largely depends on their design and implementation, as well as the reliance on external infrastructure. In a recent statement, Schwartz explained that the XRP Ledger's architecture inherently reduces reliance on bridge systems, thereby limiting exposure to attacks like the one that affected Kelp DAO, where $292 million in rsETH tokens were stolen. He emphasized that while many DeFi systems claim robust security, they often leave critical safeguards optional, leading to potential vulnerabilities. The XRP Ledger's built-in transaction finality and reduced dependence on external cross-chain messaging infrastructure enhance its security posture against such exploits.
