The law firm acknowledged before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court that it failed to verify AI-generated content, resulting in fabricated legal precedents and statutes. The errors were found in a motion filed on April 9, which has since been withdrawn and corrected. The opposing firm, Boies Schiller Flexner, identified 28 incorrect citations, including non-existent court quotations and misattributed rulings, prompting a request to postpone the hearing. Sullivan & Cromwell's internal policy mandates AI training and verification, which was not followed in this instance.
