Xahau, an XRP Ledger sidechain, has launched a blockchain-based remittance service in Ethiopia through a partnership with TerraPay and the Cooperative Bank of Oromia. This initiative enables euro-denominated transfers from Europe, marking a significant expansion of the XRP ecosystem into regulated cross-border payment infrastructure. The project, developed with the Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation, required collaboration with Ethiopian financial authorities to establish necessary technical and regulatory frameworks. The launch represents a major milestone for Xahau, enhancing its utility beyond traditional blockchain transactions. It positions the sidechain within a regulated financial use case, addressing settlement delays and operational costs in the remittance sector.
